These tunable, conical bodied tinwhistles are made in small batches with an eye for
detail and finished quality. Every instrument is individually voiced, tuned and played
before it receives a final cleaning and leaves the shop. Details are as follows:
Presently offered only in the key of soprano (high) D.
The head and conical body are formed from thin walled brass tubing (alloy 272).
The fipple plug is made from black acetal for durability and stability and is pinned in place with a brass rod.
The windway is slightly tapered which helps reduce clogging from condensation.
The tuning slide allows for tuning (within reason) to other instruments that may not be at concert pitch.
The body has a "dimple" at the tuning slide that marks the proper adjustment point for concert pitch (A=440). This also lines up the whistle head with the finger holes.
Presently available in a satin finish.
All whistles come with a simple cloth bag.
Describing whistle playing characteristics is highly subjective, so the following should only be considered a generalization.....
Breath requirements are moderate with light to medium back pressure. Tonal quality can be described as "full", with an easily accessible second octave. Volume is average or slightly louder and there is little or no "chiff".
